The read that morning
Bitcoin's +4.84% session against its own year puts yesterday's move in unusual company — single-day gains that size have been a quiet feature of this cycle, and the +11.71% five-session push is the kind of acceleration that pulls attention even before it pulls conviction.
Yesterday's tape split cleanly down the middle. US equities nudged in opposite directions — the S&P 500 slipping 0.12% to 761.69 while the Nasdaq 100 added 0.63% to 721.45 — while oil dropped 5.72% to 96.08 and gold crept up 0.57% to 4,424.9. Bitcoin's 4.84% surge to 85,070.9 sat on the same board as EUR/USD ticking up 0.18% to 1.14903. I read that as risk-on and risk-off coexisting on the same screen rather than one driving the other — different assets, different clocks.
Where measured strength is lighting up, the rotation picture is loudest in crypto: Meme +13.63% and AI +10.55% led yesterday's session narratives, while locked capital is growing fastest on Near +38.3% and Avalanche +33.1%, and trading volume on Polygon ran +84% over the week. SILVER leads the metals complex and OILWTI leads energy. None of that is the same thing as money moving — it is where the activity axis points.
USDJPY triggered a long setup at 156.37 yesterday; that direction stands unless 148.70 gives way. Bitcoin sits about 2.7% below the 87,373.8 buy-stop trigger, with 84,204.8 as the line that says the setup has failed. Gold is boxed in a narrow range with both the buy-side and sell-side stops staged; a break either way is the confirmation. Tomorrow's USDCAD attention date and Wednesday's XAUUSD one are the dates on my screen.
