The read that morning
The Nasdaq 100 closed Friday at 741.21, up 5.18% over five sessions, while the session itself printed -0.84%. That gap — a soft Friday inside a strong week — is the story the index level hides. The same pattern runs across the board: gold flat at 4,317.8 on the day but down 1.86% on the five-session window, EUR/USD barely changed Friday at 1.13934 yet -0.67% over the stretch, and oil up a tenth at 92.32 against a brutal -9.41% weekly slide. Friday's tape was a breather, not a verdict; the directional work had already been done earlier in the week.
Underneath, the cross-asset ranking tells a clean rotation story. Capital is moving into the dollar (+1.18) and out of bonds and credit (-1.01), with crypto +0.61 in between. Inside equities, META leads and XLU lags. Inside commodities, copper leads metals and natural gas leads energy. These are rankings of relative strength and activity, not flows — but the lineup is coherent: safety bid at the dollar, growth bid in tech, energy bid in natgas, and crypto leaning speculative tail with the ETH/BTC ratio rising and SOL outperforming bitcoin.
Crypto and on-chain are the live tape today. Sui trading volume is up 191% in a week, Avalanche +76.3%, with EDEL, TRUMP, BP, and NEAR trending. Locked capital is growing fastest on Arc +47.9%, Near +17.6%, Avalanche +16.5%. Single-session narrative moves: Gaming +12.91%, AI +8.06%, Oracle +7.15% lead, while Exchange and Privacy lag. Bitcoin holds the allocated capital at 83,799.2, -0.69% on the day, +3.27% over five sessions.
The levels worth watching into the reopen are systematic, not universal pivots. USDCAD has a buy stop at 1.44429, invalidation 1.41757 — roughly 0.2% above Friday's reference. XAUUSD carries a buy stop at 4,351.4 with invalidation 4,016.3, also tiered. BTCUSD sits beneath a buy stop at 87,373.8, invalidation 84,204.8 — a few percent overhead, not imminent. The dollar-yen setup favors a firmer dollar against the yen (USDJPY higher) while 148.70 holds; that level gives the read its line in the sand. The traditional market is shut for the weekend, so these are watch levels to stage, not live prints.
